Sandlapper Singers, Through the Years
This is the final season for co-founder and artistic director Lillian Quackenbush. This season's audiences will participate in the auditions for a new artistic director.
In 1995 as Lillian was completing a doctorate in music at USC and looking to expanding her musical horizons as a choral conductor, Morgan Maclachlan planted a seed in her brain about the need for a group that sang the music of American composers. From that seed – fertilized with an immense amount of visioning and planning by her very persistent and capable spouse Dave Quackenbush, a group of friends who agreed to help organize a board of directors and a cadre of gifted singers who entrusted their talents to Lillian – the Sandlapper Singers came to full bloom. Twenty years and countless concerts later, we are overwhelmed thinking about the immeasurable JOY that this wonderful organization has brought to our lives as it has to the lives of all the singers, students and thousands of audience members who have discovered this wonderful treasure chest of American choral music. To each and every one who has been and will continue to be part of that JOY, thank you! – Dave & Lillian Quackenbush
