The Sandlapper
Singers, South Carolina’s a professional
choral ensemble has presented American choral music
in a uniquely entertaining and engaging style since
1996. The 30-voice
auditioned ensemble is beginning its fifteenth
season performing an annual subscription series of
three concerts at the Dreher High School Performing
Arts Center in Columbia. The Sandlapper Singers have
performed in more than 25 cities throughout the
state of South Carolina and beyond. Directed and
founded by Dr. Lillian Quackenbush, retired
chair of the Columbia College Department of Music,
the Singers specialize in the works of American
composers, past and present, a departure from the
usual programming of European choral literature, and
offer a delightful mix of both familiar and new
music. Sandlapper concerts are multimedia
performances that include singing, photography,
lighting, and insightful commentary as they
enlighten and entertain audiences with a wide
variety of music "made in the USA". |
